The Flintstones

Produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions, The Flintstones was one of the most successful animated shows of all time. Created after the sitcom The Honeymooners, the show aired for the first time from 1960 to 1966, on the ABC network. The show then aired on CBS from September 1972-January 1974, back on NBC from February 1979-September 1984, and on ABC with The Flintstone Kids from September 1986-September 1989.

Many special episodes and movies were also created. Some of them are:"A Flintstones Christmas Carol", "A Flintstones Christmas" , "I Yabba Dabba Do". Two films were also made, in 1994 "The Flintstones" and "Viva Rock Vegas" was in 2000 but didn't have the same success as the cartoon shows.

Fred Flintstone
He is is the husband of Wilma Flintstone and father of Pebbles Flintstone and works as a "bronto crane operator" at Slate Rock and Gravel Company. Fred enjoys poker, bowling, pool and playing golf with his buddies. Fred is also part of the Loyal Order of Dinosaurs and member of the Loyal Order of Water Buffalos Lodge. Many people know this character and often associate him with the catchphrase "Yabba-Dabba-Doo!".

Wilma Flintstone
Wife of caveman Fred Flintstone, Wilma was created based on the personality of Alice Kramden, wife of Ralph Kramden on the 1950s television series The Honeymooners. Wilma is a homemaker, often being depicted when cleaning the house, preparing food or looking after her daughter Pebbles later in the show. Jean Vander Pyl voiced Wilma until the 1990s, when she passed away, after which her place was taken by Tress MacNeille.

Barney Rubble
Married to Betty and friend of the Flintstones, the Barney character was based on  Ed Norton star of the 1950s television series The Honeymooners, played by Art Carney. As his friend Fred, Barney enjoys bowling, poker, pool or golf. He's a member of the Loyal Order of Dinosaurs, a skilled pianist and drummer.

Betty Rubble
Married with Barney, Betty was created based on the personality of Trixie Norton, wife of Ed Norton on the 1950s television series The Honeymooners. Betty is not as well developed in the show as the other characters and sometimes she seems an echo of Barney or Wilma, her best friend. Betty too is a housewife, but her relationship with Barney seems more affectionate.
