Mighty Mouse
The author of the original concept is I. Klein, who created a fly with super powers called "Superfly", but it was the studio manager, Paul Terry that turned it into a toon mouse, as a parody of Superman. Mighty Mouse first appeared in a short story from 1942 called The Mouse of Tomorrow. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, Mighty Mouse, along with fellow Terrytoon characters Heckle and Jeckle were the starts of an animated TV show called The New Adventures of Mighty Mouse and Heckle & Jeckle.
Later, in the 1980s, animator Ralph Bakshi created a new series of cartoons entitled Mighty Mouse: The New Adventures, where Mighty Mouse had a real identity – Mike Mouse. He was also given an assistant by the name of Scrappy Mouse, a little orphan. A scene where Mighty Mouse sniffed the powder of a red flower caused controversy and the show was canceled after only two seasons.
The powerful mouse was last seen in Marvel Comics's 10-issue comic book series in 1990 and 1991. He was also featured in a "the power of cheese" commercial in 2001 and an arcade game produced by Atari. Nickelodeon announced that it's preparing a CGI Mighty Mouse feature film set to be released in 2007.
