Road Runner

Chuck Jones created the Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner series as a parody to Tom and Jerry, very popular at that time. At first, the author didn't see the characters as being central them for a series, first creating only a short movie with a series of funny incidents involving the two. Still, audience really liked predator whose hunts always end in disaster and a second show was released in 1952. He then released 2 or 3 cartoons per year until he left Warner Bros in 1963, one of which was nominated for an Academy Award.

The premise is Road Runner being chased down the highway by a hungry coyote. He has many clever plans of apprehending the fast bird, but they somehow always fail. He received various devices from the fictional Acme Company, that he hopes will help him to catch the Road Runner. In another series of cartoons, Wile E. Coyote attempted to catch Bugs Bunny but he failed this time too.

After Jones's departure, the production of the cartoon increased, but Rudy Larriva (ex-assistantf of Jones's) or Robert McKimson (Foghorn Leghorn, Goofy Gophers) didn't have the talent of the creator. The two were also seen in cameos in Animaniacs, then the audience saw in the 2000 production Baby Looney Tunes the toddler versions of Wile E. and the Road Runner.
