Tasmanian Devil
Robert McKimson, the creater of Taz or the Tasmanian Devil, based his character on the real life Australian devil. The toons staring the Tasmanian Devil began airing in 1957, later being paired with Daffy Duck in the same year or Bugs Bunny in 1962. After Warner Bros. closed their studio in 1964, Taz cartoons ceased to be produced. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, the company revived the character which experienced even greater popularity.
The popularity gave him recurring role in the Fox TV series, Tiny Toon Adventures, after which he got his own show, Taz-mania, which ran for three seasons on Fox. The devil was a teenager that lived in a 1950 era. The Tasmanian Devil also made an appearance in the 1996 film Space Jam.
Warner Bros. were heavily criticized by the Tasmanian authorities because of making such a huge fortune from the character and not donating any funds for saving the species. Eventually, the company was persuaded by the Tasmanian state government in Australia to assist in fighting
